We began the day with a formal assembly at St. Mary’s School to open the new term. The girls sang Advance Australia Fair with the students and then took the stage for No Time. After, the cast of Funny Girl entertained the assembly with a scene from the upcoming show. A proud PG moment came when the principal, a music educator, spoke about how heartfelt it was to see our girls sing the national anthem in the assembly.

In the principal’s address, she spoke about the power of lifelong creativities. Using examples from the Apollo 11 anniversary and Skylab, the student president then spoke about the importance of risk-taking and taking care of ourselves and those around us. To illustrate her points, she put on a homemade space suit! St. Mary’s School clearly invests in both the power of the individual and the collective.

Directly after the assembly, the girls were whisked away to shadow St. Mary’s girls in their classes. Several went to Math, others Italian, some attended double music periods, English, and athletics. Several remarked about how odd it felt have school in the summer!

Our afternoon performance in Yagan Square was good fun—several visitors stopped by to hear our singers and the weather broke just in time for the performance. Singers loved seeing PG and GSG logos prominently displayed on the digital tower. The sun set as we finished our performance and then shared a meal together at one of Jamie Oliver’s restaurants. Like many days on tour, today was a day full of memories our girls will long remember.

Oh, and did we mention that in the midst of this very busy day, we also managed to hang with some kangaroos?? Many pictures to follow.
