Today the girls had extended time with their Billet Families (aka Homestays)! Some families took girls to the beach for surfing and boogie boarding. Yes, it’s Australian winter, but the weather has been quite mild!

We gathered together in the afternoon for a service at Hale School to honor St Bartholomew’s House, a non-profit providing services for Perth’s homeless population. It was inspiring to hear how this organization not only assists Perth’s homeless to rebuild their lives, but also acts to prevent the homelessness of tomorrow.

The congregation was moved by the girls’ renditions of “Lift Thine Eyes,” “When You Believe” and “Draw the Circle Wide.” After the service, girls were reunited for their last evening with the billet families from St Mary’s. We’ve been blessed with such a wonderful and warm set of host families, and it’s been great to have such an extended stay.

Tomorrow, it’s on to Mt Barker and our second set of Billet Families! We’re looking forward to experiencing a more rural community…
